The from the two initial ideas i developed the forms of the concept both in my sketch book and by using 3ds max. Below are the sketch developments of the bent plastic sheeting stand.

Concept Developments

This development  is not plastic and is wood instead. I have somewhere seen a product like this but cannot think where, however this inspired this design and had the possibility to turn into a final concept. But i did not favour this design.

I took alot interest in this development as i think it looks the part but is very simple and effective at the same time. However i do not think a bent plastic sheet on it own would support an object at an exhibition without bending, bowing or been very unsturdy. So i choose to develop this idea even further.

This development would be made from a bent plastic sheet. i took interest in this idea as it enable the user to put a poster of the exhibited object on the front of the concept. I also took interest as it has a unique form to the concept, however i do not believe that this product would be stable if there was a product placed onto the plinth.

I liked the initial concept of this a the portfolio stand is split into two separate ppart but in turn create one stand. â€‹For this development the first plinth i designed in our second lesson influenced the design of where you put you portfolio. I liked the design then so i incorperated that into this development and makes it better concept than just having two flat square pieces of wood or plastic. I saw room for improvement on the legs also and 3ds max allowed me to creat a number of different legs and allowed me to see which was best.

I developed the "C" shaped stand by adding support to the concept in order to stable out the stand to ensure it is strong enough to exhibit an object. From the two developments i prefer the bottom development with the tubing all the way around the stand rather than inbetween the top and bottom as i feel it looks more modern and minimal but does the job in every way.

I then further developed this concept with 3ds max by experimenting with the front panel to see if i preferred it just on the top or on both sides. I prefer it on both side as this then allows the user to use the plinth not only a stand but you can turn it on its side and it can be used as a table for one big object or two objects. I also added two slots at the front of the plinth which allows the user to insert a piece of A3 card in to promote or give information on there exhibited object. When the plinth is turned into a table you can also view the A3 card from above and it will be at the side of the object. Instead of the metal strips supporting and fixing the plastic to the from i mad them smaller and tabs welded to the fram will be used to fix and support the plastic sheeting.
